The Miamisburg Wee Vikes Football & Cheer Organization has been enriching the lives of boys and girls in the Miamisburg community for over thirty years. More than 400 boys and girls from the Miamisburg community participate in our program each year. In 2007, the Wee Vikes and the City of Miamisburg partnered together to create a new home for the Wee Vikes at Beachler Field in Miamisburg and beginning in the fall of 2007, we began hosting games at this facility. The “Beachler Field project” was so successful, it was recognized by the Ohio Parks and Recreation Department with their highest honor for facility improvement in their annual “Awards of Excellence” which was awarded to the City of Miamisburg in January 2008. Although we got off to a great start and a new beginning in 2007, much more work is needed to further improve Beachler Field for the enjoyment of our community’s children for years to come such as the installation of a sprinkler system, renovating our concession stand and restroom facility and installing a new press box. Additionally, our program has many other re-occurring costs such as reconditioning equipment so it is safe for our children each season, uniforms, insurance, league fees and two annual college scholarships for Wee Vikes Alumni, etc. Since we are a self-funded non-profit organization raising money is a significant challenge, especially in this challenging economy. We simply could not offer the wonderful childhood-enriching experience for our children that we offer without the generosity of our community.
